Physical Therapy and Wellness
Hi! I'm Mary Beth, a doctor of physical therapy, wellness advocate, performing arts lover, and mama. To the right, you'll see a picture of me on the first day of my favorite job to date, serving Dancing with the Stars tour as their physio.
If you've found yourself on my page, it's likely because:
-
You or someone you love needs to work with someone who understands what they’re going through
-
You or someone you love has seen multiple providers for a performing arts-related injury, and you're looking for empathetic listening and effective problem solving
-
You've heard me speak on ways to promote wellness in competitive dancers and holistically prevent dance injuries
-
You are a pregnant or postpartum mama who is looking for guidance on physical expectations and return to dance during and after pregnancy
You're in the right place, and I would be honored to help you!
How did I get here? Well, I decided that I wanted to be a physical therapist very early on in my life, after suffering chronic injuries and health problems as a dancer. I know what it feels like to be told, time and time again, that you need to sit out indefinitely by a provider who doesn't understand your sport. I underwent specialized post-doctorate training to be able to provide performing artists with the most effective, up-to-date clinical care. Recently, I gave birth to my first baby, and realized the enormous need for pregnancy and postpartum coaching, rehab, and support.
As a former dancer who has rehabbed a numerous amount of injuries and setbacks, I understand the difficulties an athlete faces during an injury. It can be frustrating to feel like you're constantly sitting on the sidelines or like you're not progressing as you imagined. Over the past 6 years of treating patients, I have learned that a patient-centered approach is VITAL to a patient's long-term success. One-on-one, sport-specific care with your coaches, team, and PT understanding of YOUR goals will change your rehab experience.
