PRE-POINTE ASSESSMENT

  • 45 min
  • 70 US dollars
  • Location 1

Service Description

The International Association of Dance Medicine and Science offers factors that should be considered when a young dancer is deciding to transition en pointe. These factors include -stage of physical development -quality of trunk, abdominal and pelvic control -lower extremity alignment -foot and ankle strength and flexibility -duration, frequency, and history of dance training During your pre-pointe assessment, your physical therapist will look at your mobility, flexibility, strength, endurance, lower extremity alignment, core control, and dance-specific movement patterns. She will also ask you a series of questions about how long you've danced, how much you're currently dancing, and how committed you are to transitioning en pointe. The pre-pointe assessment is very extensive and is difficult to pass on the first time. At the end of the session, your physical therapist will discuss her findings, and educate you on exercises to perform to improve your safety of dancing en pointe! This service can be provided via mobile physical therapy or Telehealth, but MBody You recommends a mobile session to improve accuracy and thoroughness. You can book Telehealth online, but must e-mail marybeth@mbodyyou to book a mobile session.
